Lifelong Learning Mission:  Recognizing that learning is a perpetual process, Lifelong Learning exists to collaborate with University Parallel, Career Studies, and Adult Basic Education Programs and Student Development services to ensure a continuum of vital learning experiences to meet citizens' diverse, non-degree/non-Career Studies certificate needs for occupational skills and career development, community building, and enhancement of quality of life.

Lifelong Learning offices are located on the second floor of the Student Union Building East.

Lifelong Learning offers credit and non-credit courses and uses a variety of methods to deliver them - traditional classroom settings, teleconferences, computer assisted courses, workshops, forums and more.

The process from assessing a community needs to delivering a course is governed by a myriad of state rules, professional agency and association regulations, and the college's own internal operating procedures. Non-credit courses and activities are either continuing workforce education courses or recreational courses.

Gulf Coast's continuing workforce education courses are geared to occupational fields like nursing, dental auxiliary, respiratory therapy, radiological technology, emergency medical technology/paramedic, mental health/psychology, medical records, law enforcement, corrections, real estate, insurance, banking and finance, building construction, teaching, child care, business management, hospitality services, public services, office systems/clerical and more.

Continuing workforce education courses are supported financially by participant fees and state appropriations. Recreational courses are supported only by student fees.

Lifelong Learning courses are scheduled at times and in places that are convenient to target audiences. They are offered as "open" enrollment (anyone may register), "selective" enrollment (potential students must meet certain criteria), or as "in-house" enrollment (courses offered only to specific employees).
