Computer - Basics
Using a “hands on” approach, learn to use the keyboard, mouse, and a
variety of computer programs. Resolve your computer phobias using a
comfortable and simplified approach. This course also focuses on the essentials of Microsoft Windows and a variety of other
computer programs. Learn how to save and find your documents.

Flower
Arranging
This
class will be taught in a relaxed and interactive manner. Different
materials will be used for each class and will include fresh flowers,
silk flowers, and natural plants found in the area of the Panhandle. The
class will provide each participant with an opportunity to bring
materials and make their own arrangement for display. It may be
necessary to charge a small materials fee.

Ecology
of the
Florida
Panhandle
Each
week this class will learn about a different habitat on the
Florida
panhandle. Students will learn about the geology and the ecological
function of each of these habitats. They will learn about the plants and
animals that call the Panhandle home and how they interact with one
another in order to survive. The Florida Panhandle is the most
biologically diverse area in the
United States
. Students will gain an understanding of how these ecosystems function
and of their importance to world ecology and the economy of
Florida
.

Drawing
I
This is a 2 hour exploratory drawing class for the beginning artist.
Class exercises include gesture and contour drawing, shading and value,
composition, color, texture, and more. The Drawing I course is designed
for participants to become familiar with the materials, techniques, and
elements of drawing while learning to identify and express their

Digital
Photography
For anyone who wonders what all those buttons are for. We’ll discuss
pixels, memory, resolution, downloading to your computer, printing,
sending emails, and jpgs. Bring your cameras and questions and expect to
get much more from your digital photography.

Panhandle
Writers
This
course will explore and discuss fiction which reflects local color and
concerns. Authors to be read and discussed include Jack Rudloe, Adrian
Fogelin, Dawn Evans Radford, Richard Nobles and Janis Owens.

Computer—Advanced
Prerequisites:
Computer Basics. Manage and organize documents and folders using Windows
Explorer. Create desktop shortcuts and perform general PC maintenance,
including defragment and disk cleanup.

I
This
is a continuation of the 8:30 am class.
Nuts & Bolts of Weather
Learn
about the actual mechanics of weather, from everyday weather occurrences
to life-changing natural disasters. Learn to read the sky and weather
map, and use these tools to forecast for yourself. You will leave this
class with a solid understanding of the forces of nature at work around
you every day.

Antiques
& Collectibles
This
course will provide a study of antiques and collectibles focusing on the
major and minor decorative arts including furniture, ceramics, glass,
and silver. This course will show you what to look for as you add to
your collections and how to assess what you now own.

Watercolor
This
two period course is an exploration of the dynamic nature and spirit of
watercolor. The course, along with a tutorial, is designed to discover a
variety of watercolor processes through short lectures, demonstrations,
and hands-on practice. All levels of artists, from beginner to advanced,
are invited to join this class.
Maria
Brusher is an accomplished artist in several media. She has developed an
acute sense of color and style, sharing her experiences and knowledge of
the various arts through demonstration, workshops, lectures, and
innovative teaching.

Spanish
for Travelers
Knowing
Spanish can prove helpful in travel and in today’s world, very
often. This course will teach you useful phrases and simple ways to
communicate with Spanish speaking people. Participants will need a
textbook and English-Spanish dictionary for the course. Supply list will
be given at reception.

Computer
– E-mail & Internet
Prerequisite:
Completion of Basic Computer or equivalent. Learn about the
various uses of the Internet, how to get connected, and effectively
search for topics of interest. Classmates will send and receive e-mail
and gain a better understanding of e-mail issues and procedures.

Drawing
II
This
is a 1 hour class for anyone who has already completed a beginner
drawing course. During class we will continue to explore the elements of
drawing with a focus on creating finished works. Participants are
encouraged to bring in their own project ideas as well as participate in
class exercises that will improve their drawing skills and express their

Tai
Chi
Tai
Chi has gained wide recognition as a low-impact exercise which promotes
improved circulation, flexibility, strength and balance. Tai Chi has
been proven to be particularly beneficial for seniors. This course is
for those who have had no formal Tai Chi instruction previously.
Students will learn the complete sequence of Yang Style Short Form (24
postures).

Fishing
Techniques
This
course will cover all the basics of saltwater/freshwater fishing from
small ponds to blue water trolling offshore. It will include the
different types of tackle (conventional, bait casting, spinning, and
rods) and equipment required to catch multiple species of fish from both
saltwater and freshwater. The course will feature a multitude of
different methods of rigging and baits required for freshwater, surf,
wade, flats, and bottom fishing, plus offshore trolling. It will cover
certain techniques and proper presentation of both live baits and
artificial lures. The focus will be on species that are available in our
local waters.

This

Do’s
& Don’ts of Financial Planning
This
course is designed to give you useful information in making the right
decisions for your financial future. From understanding investments and
how they should work to Long Term Insurance, you will learn valuable
questions to ask as well as proper positioning to insure that your
assets are protected before and after death.
