General Information
What Is Education
Encore?
Education Encore is a program of the Office of Lifelong
Learning, at GCCC. The program provides non-credit enrichment classes on a wide
variety of topics for adults. It began at GCCC in the 1991/92 school year and
is run by adults who work on a volunteer basis through the Education Encore
Advisory Council's (EEAC) at the Bay County and Gulf/Franklin County campuses .
The EEAC supports the program planning, implementation, and evaluation of the
curriculum. All participants in Encore are encouraged to become actively
involved and to suggest ideas for classes and improvements to the program. The
goal is to provide a learning environment that is lively and full of enjoyment,
diversity, insight, and wisdom – one where adults may explore new ideas and make
their own unique contributions.
Who Is It For?
Education Encore is for adults, local and
non-local (need not be a Florida resident).
And Why?
Education Encore is offered for learning, fun,
fellowship, enrichment, challenges, meeting new friends, and developing new
interests.
When Are the Classes
Scheduled?
Two series of classes are offered every year at the Bay County and
Gulf/Franklin County campuses of GCCC. One series
is scheduled during part of GCCC’s spring term (mid-January through February),
and one is scheduled in the fall (normally the end of September through
October).
What Time are the Classes Held?
Bay County: Classes are held on six consecutive Fridays from
9:15

a.m. to 12:00 noon (Eastern Time).
What Options are there for Lunch? (Bay

The GCCC Commodore Cafe, located in the Student Union Building East
building, serves a variety of soups, salads, sandwiches, pizzas, and hot entrees
at reasonable prices. Participants can also sample the variety of local
restaurants within a short drive of the campus on highway 98 and 23rd Street.
What Is The Cost?
The fee is $80.00 for the six - week program at the Bay County campus,
and $60.00 for the six-week program at the Gulf/Franklin campus. To ensure the viability of the total program, we do not charge on a
