General Questions & Answers

Where to start?  Little or no computer experience, start with What you CAN do with computers!  We strongly recommend Microsoft Windows Basic before taking any of the MS Office or Internet classes.  This course will give you a solid understanding of the concepts necessary to be successful in the applications courses; such as, MS Word, Access, Excel and PowerPoint.

Online Classes. Online courses are offered in partnership with Ed2Go and are another way to meet the unique scheduling needs of busy people.

Customized Corporate Training. We also offer customized courses during the day in our new corporate training lab.  If interested in scheduling a class for your organization, click here

Prerequisites.  Almost all classes have a prerequisite.  It might be a certain skill level or a complete course.  If you have little or no computer background, we recommend you complete all the prerequisites for the course.  If you have previous computer experience and want to jump right in, go ahead!

College Credit or Non Credit?  All of the classes listed on this site are non-credit.  What does this mean? No grades! Which means no quizzes or exams! It also means that you don't have to apply for admission to the college. Just stop by the registration desk on the second floor of Student Union East to register, or you can mail or fax your registration card to us (see below Registration Information).

But I need college credit!  If you need college credit for your degree program or continuing professional education (engineers, CPAs, etc.), never fear! The GCCC Business and Technology Divisions offer a wide variety of 1-3 credit hour courses that may satisfy your requirements. All the Microsoft Office classes are available, as are many other topics. Review the current semester's Schedule of Classes, or contact the Business Division at 850-872-3839 or the Technology Division at 850-872-3876.
